Bart van Horck, MSc, lecturer in Public Administration, is the winner of the Leiden Student Council Teaching Prize. The LSr chose him as best lecturer 2010 for his engagement with his students and for his interactive lectures.

KWF Cancer Fund to subsidise Leiden research into bladder cancer
Dr Geertje van der Horst, Dr Rob Bevers and Dr Gabri van der Pluijm of the Urology department at the Leiden University Medical Center have been awarded a subsidy of € 550,000 by the KWK Cancer Fund. 'Our application has been awarded the maximum subsidy. We can now carry out unique research in the field of cancer of the bladder.'

‘Antibiotics wanted!’ wins Academic Year Prize
Secretary of State Zijlstra slowly opened the large gold envelope containing the name of the winner of the Academic Year Prize 2011. It had been an exciting finale. But there could be only one winner. And that honour went to the Leiden team of molecular biologist Gilles van Wezel with ‘Antibiotics wanted!’
